2013 is probably the biggest years for Rosh Hashanah videos. A bunch have been released and spread throughout the web. Seems like some people have caught on to how popular these videos can get.
But only a few have risen above the pack to go beyond the predictable or the usual. I mean, how many videos of break dancing Jews do we need to see?
Here are three Rosh Hashanah videos that I believe have gone above and beyond the crowd to be truly creative, funny, and powerful. I hope you like them as much as I did, because they’re awesome 🙂
1. Benji Lovitt Doesn’t Get Apples (Or Honey)
Benji Lovitt is a comedian and an oleh (American who moved to Israel) who has started to make waves on the web, especially with his hugely popular annual “Things I Love About Israel” posts. It seems like his latest trip to ROI has been frutiful, literally. His latest video is his best, and awesomely funny. Hope you guys enjoy it as much as I did 🙂
2. The Street Shofar Rocks Israel
This is just too cool for words. Just watch and enjoy 🙂
3. The Moshe Show Hacks The Shofar
Moshe Kravitsky of the Moshe Show, a new Jewish vlog, has been working tirelessly with some really great videos that have clearly been edited with care. I’m happy to have the chance to share his latest, greatest video. Great stuff, Moshe!
I found a great Shofar selection, check it out!
4. Ari Lesser Keeps Rosh Hashanah Real
I’ve featured Ari here before, but he deserves another mention with this awesome rap. I love Ari because he doesn’t hold back. He calls out “some random day in January” as the empty celebration it is while bringing out the beauty that is the depth of Rosh Hashanah. I love Ari and I can’t wait to see more and more out of him. Enjoy this one!
And a bonus…
Okay, this one has nothing to do with Rosh Hashanah (I mean, there’s an apple tree in it. That counts, right?). But it came out recently and it’s by the awesome guys behind Shmideo, and I think everyone in the world needs to watch it. It’s beautifully animated and so well stated. Can’t wait to see more from them.
May you have a beautiful, wonderful new year that only brings you sweet things! Thanks so much to Benji, Moshe, Ari, and Shmideo for making such hilarious and powerful videos. May the outburst of creativity continue, and continue to be genuine and not just a trick for hits. Rock on!
